Tata Nexon EV

Tata Nexon EV is available in three variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX variants. The electric SUV is available in three colour options – signature teal blue, glacier white and moonlit silver. The vehicle gets a health monitoring system that helps with remote diagnostics, vehicle health alerts and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

The Nexon EV is based on the Impact Design 2.0 language. The electric SUV gets a sporty central grille with signature tri-arrows, wide grille with signature Humanity Line running from lamp to lamp. The higher variant is available in dual-tone body colour and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The Nexon EV sports an Altroz-sourced flat-bottom steering wheel and instrument cluster which, in the Nexon EV, gives out information like – charge level, driving range, battery consumption, turn-by-turn navigation and more. Tata also provides the ZConnect app suite with 35 connectivity features.

The Nexon EV is powered by a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor that puts out 127bhp and 245Nm paired to a 30.2kWh lithium-ion and a liquid-cooled battery pack. The ARAI-certified range of the Nexon EV is 312km and it comes with IP67 certification. Charging options include a 3.3kW bundled charger that can charge the battery pack from 20-100 per cent in eight hours, while a 25kW fast charger can charge the battery from 0-80 per cent in 60 minutes.

As a true embodiment of the electric evolution, the new Tata Motors electric car – Tigor EV houses a supremely ample 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This IP67 certified (Ingress Protection against intrusion, dust, accidental contact, and water) battery has been driven and proved over 35 mn.^ km to brave any terrain and any weather.  Tata Motors launched the Tigor EV in India on 31 August 2021. It is the most affordable electric vehicle in the carmaker’s lineup.

1. Technical Specifications

Utilising the brand’s Ziptron technology, the Tigor EV draws its power from a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric sedan has an output of 74bhp and 170Nm of torque with a zero to 60kmph acceleration time of 5.7 seconds. It also supports CCS2 charging with support for the fast charge as well as from any 15A plug point. When connected to a fast charger, the battery can be topped up from zero to 80 per cent in about 65 minutes. Tata Motors also claims an ARAI certified range of 306km.

The Tigor EV measures 3,993mm in length, is 1,532mm tall and 1,677mm wide, and boasts 2,450mm of wheelbase.

Visually, the Tigor EV resembles its ICE brother. However, select styling highlights like blue accents on the blacked-out front grille with a tri-arrow pattern, bumper-mounted LED DRLs, and 14-inch hyper style wheels are unique to this EV.

The cabin follows a dual black and white theme with blue inserts around the aircon vents. Besides this, it is loaded with features such as a seven-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with four speakers and four tweeters, a rear parking camera, electric boot unlock, cooled glovebox, auto-folding ORVMs, and height adjustment for the driver seat.

There are two exterior shades to choose from – Daytona Grey and Teal Blue. Both the hues can be had with a black roof.

7. Rivals

There are no direct rivals to the Tigor EV in the budget electric vehicle segment. However, it undercuts its elder sibling, the Nexon EV by Rs2 lakh.
