This year has been the year of Compact SUV be it the Tata Safari, XUV 300 or the newest in town XUV 700. And to follow the trend we have a new incoming from Kia Motors they have recently announced the launch on Kia Carens on 16th December 2021. The success of Kia Motors has been the talk of the town now as their Seltos and Sonet are the best selling cars in their segment.
An Overview of KIA CARENS
1. Kia Carens
Recently Kia Motors have trademarked the name Carens in India. Carens has been selling in the MPV segment abroad has gained tremendous popularity. If we believe in the Hyundai Kia partnership then we can expect Carens to be the copy of Hyundai Alcazar.
2. Engine
Kia Carens will have the same engine as that of Hyundai Alcazar, it might get the 1.5L Diesel (115HP and 250nm) and the 2.0L Petrol(150HP and 192nm). Although this isn’t practical to the customers because having the same engine in almost every car of Kia and Hyundai is unacceptable.
3. Pricing
The Kia Carens is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
4. Features
Well if they do not provide us with a new and better engine the automakers compensate the customers with some cosmetical features and here is what they have done.
- The Carens will be based on the current-gen Seltos. Being a six/seven-seater, it will be longer than the Seltos with a slightly stretched wheelbase to accommodate the third-row seats. Based on the recently revealed design sketch images, the Carens will sport a tiger-nose front grille, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, five-spoke alloy wheels, plastic cladding, roof rails, split LED tail lamps, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
- The design sketches of the interior reveal a multi-layered dashboard with the centre-stacked 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a contrast-colour insert at the centre, and aircon vents placed below the multimedia system. Besides this, the Carens will get a three-spoke steering wheel with silver inserts and a new brand logo.
5. India Launch
The Kia Carens will be unveiled on 16 December 2021 and are expected to be launched in India in the third quarter of 2022.
6. Rivals
Kia Carens will directly compete with Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and some cars of Toyota.
